SUMMARY A new species, Thindia cupressi, occurring on the dead foliage of Cupressus in India, is the basis of a monotypic new genus of the operculate discomycetes. The yellow-orange to orange apothecia are provided with brown setae and resemble those of Scutellinia or Cheilymenia (Pezizineae), but microanatomical and cytological characters show that this 4spored fungus belongs instead to the Sarcoscyphineae.
