  • Experimental work during the quarter was devoted to development of the pulse decay method which has proceeded to the point where the electronic apparatus is functioning snd measurements were made on zirconium oxide. Other work was done on an a-c heating method which was studied experimentally to verify theoretical predictions. It was found that the emissivity of W surface is strongly sensitive to the nature and partial pressure of the gases in which the filament is heated. (J.R.D.)
