A MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS IS CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE THE BENDING MOMENT ALONG THE CENTRAL AXIS OF A LOADED PLATE. THE DEFLECTION OF AN INFINITELY LONG PLATE IS DERIVED TO OBTAIN THE EXPRESSIONS FOR BENDING MOMENTS IN THE VICINITY OF THE POINT OF APPLICATION OF THE LOAD.
