A rotating, two-dimensional stellar model is evolved to match the approximate conditions of α Oph. Both axisymmetric and nonaxisymmetric oscillation frequencies are computed for two-dimensional rotating models which approximate the properties of α Oph. These computed frequencies are compared to the observed frequencies. Oscillation calculations are made assuming the eigenfunction can be fitted with six Legendre polynomials, but comparison calculations with eight Legendre polynomials show the… Expand

MATCHING THE SPECTRAL ENERGY DISTRIBUTION AND p-MODE OSCILLATION FREQUENCIES OF THE RAPIDLY ROTATING DELTA SCUTI STAR α OPHIUCHI WITH A TWO-DIMENSIONAL ROTATING STELLAR MODEL
• Physics
• 2012
Spectral energy distributions are computed using two-dimensional (2D) rotating stellar models and non-LTE plane-parallel model atmospheres. A rotating, 2D stellar model has been found that matchesExpand
Scaling of oscillation frequencies in rotating stars
• Physics
• 2016
Properties of stars undergoing pulsation such as the well known root-mean-density scaling relation can be useful when trying to match the observed properties of a particular star. It is often assumedExpand
Unusual high-frequency oscillations in the Kepler δ Scuti star KIC 4840675
We show that the star KIC 4840675 observed by Kepler is composed of three stars with a rapidly rotating A-type star and two solar-type fainter companions. The A-type star is a δ Scuti variable with aExpand
Revisiting the pulsational characteristics of the exoplanet host star β Pictoris
Context. Exoplanet properties crucially depend on the parameters of their host stars: more accurate stellar parameters yield more accurate exoplanet characteristics. When the exoplanet host starExpand
Pulsation Analysis And Its Impact On Primary Transit Modeling In WASP-33
Aims. To date, WASP-33 is the only δ Scuti star known to be orbited by a hot Jupiter. The pronounced stellar pulsations, showing periods comparable to the primary transit duration, interfere with theExpand
Unexpected series of regular frequency spacing of delta Scuti stars in the non-asymptotic regime -- I. The methodology
• Physics
• 2016
A sequence search method was developed to search regular frequency spacing in delta Scuti stars by visual inspection and algorithmic search. We searched for sequences of quasi-equally spacedExpand
Constraints on pre-main-sequence evolution from stellar pulsations
• Physics
• Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union
• 2013
Abstract Pulsating pre-main-sequence (PMS) stars afford the earliest opportunity in the lifetime of a star to which the concepts of asteroseismology can be applied. PMS stars should be structurallyExpand
The first Galaxy scale hunt for the youngest high-mass protostars
The origin of massive stars is a fundamental open issue in modern astrophysics. Pre-ALMA interferometric studies reveal precursors to early B to late O type stars with collapsing envelopes of 15-20Expand
From Poloidal to Toroidal: Detection of a Well-ordered Magnetic Field in the High-mass Protocluster G35.2?0.74?N
• Physics
• 2013
We report the detection of an ordered magnetic field threading a cluster-forming clump in the molecular cloud G35.2–0.74 using Submillimeter Array observations of polarized dust emission. We resolveExpand
KIC 4142768: An Evolved Gamma Doradus/Delta Scuti Hybrid Pulsating Eclipsing Binary with Tidally Excited Oscillations
We present the characterization of KIC 4142768, an eclipsing binary with two evolved A-type stars in an eccentric orbit with a period of 14 days. We measure the fundamental parameters of the twoExpand
