# THE TSUJI CHARACTERISTIC AND ZEROS OF LINEAR DIFFERENTIAL POLYNOMIALS

Using the Tsuji characteristic, we prove the following theorem. Suppose that f(z) is meromorphic in the plane and that F(z) = f ( k (z) + V a.(z)f ( j (z) j=0 J i-k where k g 3 and each j( ) is rational with a^(z) = 0( |z| ) as ζ -»-<*> . If f and F have only finitely many zeros, then f'/f is rational. AMS 1980 classification: 30D35.
