Chomsky (2013, 2015) proposes that a label of a syntactic object is provided via Minimal Search, but the notion of Minimal Search has not been clarified and there remains a question of how far it locates a head that provides a label. This article addresses this issue, proposing that an XP-YP structure is labeled via feature sharing only if X and Y have the same depth of embedding.
