SUMMARY Stock C8 of Euplotes crassus (Dujardin) collected from the Somalian coasts, is a mate-killer. Endosymbiont particles, very likely bacterial in nature, are present in the cytoplasm of C8 cells. The endosymbionts, bounded by three double membranes, are round or oval in shape with a diameter of about 1 μm, and randomly distributed in the cytoplasm with an average of 3.1 particles per 100 μm2.
