Background The LANCHART corpus of spoken Danish in real time was collected for various purposes, primarily the purpose of evaluating how investigations of variation in contemporary language may be used to assess rapid and progressing language change. Since the pioneering work of William Labov in the mid 1960ies (Labov 1966 cf the new edition 2006), the standard method has been to collect spoken language data from age and gender (and most often also social class) stratified samples of informants… CONTINUE READING
