Performance of high-burnup fuel and fuel cladding fabricated from new types of alloys (such as Zirlo, M5, MDA, and duplex alloys) under loss-ofcoolant-accident (LOCA) situations is not well understood at this time. To correctly interpret the results of investigations on the performance of the old and new types of fuel cladding, especially at high burnup, it is necessary to accurately understand the history and relevant databases of current LOCA embrittlement criteria.
