The genus Polygonum (Polygonaceae), comprising about 300 species, is distributed worldwide, mostly in north temperate climates, is interesting from both biological and phytochemical perspectives. In this review, a contemporary summary of biological and pharmacological investigate on Polygonum species will be presented and critically evaluated. Significant findings in the treatment various diseases such as snake-bites, inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial, antivirus, antiseptic, antifungal…

Review on the Ethnobotany, Phytochemical and Pharmacological Profile of Senna occidentalis L. (Fabaceae): Potential Application as Remedy in the Treatment of Dysmenorrhea

Based on its phytochemical profile and its pharmacological properties, it is suggested that S. occidentalis would be a potential and effective remedy in the treatment of dysmenorrhea.

The characteristics of Polygonum plants present in the Alexandru Beldie Herbarium.

Polygonum Genus contains over 300 species spread out in Europe, North and South America, Asia and North Africa. Most species of this Genus are used for treating different medical conditions, such as:

A mini-review on the most important effective medicinal plants to treat hypertension in ethnobotanical evidence of Iran

The findings of this study indicated that in Iran 40 plants in various provinces are used to treat hypertension, and effective natural drugs could be developed to control hypertension if their properties are confirmed in pharmacological studies.

In Vitro Antimicrobial, Antioxidant and Cytotoxic activities of Polygonum orientale (Bishkatali)

The extract of the experimental plants have mild antimicrobial, low antioxidant and good cytotoxic properties, and was found low in antioxidant property.

Polarity Directed Appraisal of Pharmacological Potential and HPLC-DAD Based Phytochemical Profiling of Polygonum glabrum Willd

The present study was designed to evaluate polarity-dependent extraction efficiency and pharmacological profiling of Polygonum glabrum Willd. Crude extracts of leaves, roots, stems, and seeds,

Phenolic Fingerprinting, Antioxidant, and Deterrent Potentials of Persicaria maculosa Extracts

Investigation of the antifeedant potential of methanolic, ethanolic, and dichloromethane extracts from the aerial parts of this plant collected in the Valparaíso and Curicó provinces showed that P. maculosa is a good source of flavonoids with some antioxidant capacities and has potential interest as botanical eco-friendly alternative with deterrent activity.

This comprehensive transcriptome profile will serve as a useful sequence resource for molecular genetics and evolutionary research on secondary metabolite biosynthesis in Polygonaceae family.

Alpinetin: a Dietary Flavonoid with Diverse Anticancer Effects

The data on natural sources of ALPI, and its anticancer activity including cellular targets and anticancer mechanism in various human cancers will set the stage for further design and conduct pre-clinical and clinical trials to develop ALPI into a lead structure for oncological therapy.

THE TAXONOMICAL SIGNIFICANT OF COMPUTERD PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS AND MORPHOLOGICAL DATA IN SOME SPECIES OF POLYGONACEAE

Characteristics of shape, dimensions, color, and ornamentation of seeds and fruits of five species related to the genus Rumex L. and Polygonum L. from family polygonaceae in Iraq by using Mesquite software V.2.75 shows support strongly delimiting the species P. aviculare L. & R. vesicarius.

Phyto-Pharmacology of Ziziphus jujuba Mill- A Plant Review

Herbs have always been the natural form of medicine in India. Medicinal plants have curative properties due to presence of various complex chemical substances of different composition which contain

Polygodial, the fungitoxic component from the Brazilian medicinal plant Polygonum punctatum.

The dichloromethane extract of the aerial parts of this plant showed strong activity in a bioautographic assay with the fungus Cladosporium sphaerospermum and the bioassay-guided chemical fractionation afforded the sesquiterpene dialdehyde polygodial as the active constituent.

Phytochemical and pharmacological evaluations of Polygonum lapathifolium stem extract for anthelmintic and antiemetic activity

The present study is an attempt to preliminary phytochemical investigation, anthelmintic and anti-emetic activity studies on methanolic extract of Polygonum lapathifolium stems. The phytochemical

Antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer activities of Thai local vegetables.

Thai local vegetables (20 species) were screened for their antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. Methanolic extracts of Cassia siamea, Garcinia cowa, Limnophila aromatica and Polygonum odoratum

Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of Polygonum stagninum

The n-hexane, ethyl acetate (EtOAc), and methanol extracts of the aerial parts of Polygonum stagninum Buch.-Ham. ex Meissn. (Polygonaceae), a Bangladeshi medicinal plant, were assessed for analgesic

Anti-inflammatory, analgesic and diuretic activity of Polygonum lanatum Roxb.

Oral administration of either PLH, PLE or PLM at a dose of 300 mg/kg body weight showed statistically significant inhibition of rat paw edema and mild to potent diuretic activity was observed after oral administration of these extracts in Swiss albino mice.
