In-situ measurement of concrete strains with acoustic gauges often requires that the gauges are encapsulated or 'briquetted' for protection. The effects of age and moisture regime on the response of the briquetted gauge are, however, unknown. Studies extending up to 700 days on these two effects are presented and gauge response is compared to that of the unbriquetted gauge.
