This re,port presents a theoretical discussion of the effect of nonequilibrium quantities of free radicals on the ignition delay in the hydrogen-air system. A correlation was found between the ignition delay computed from. complete reaction kinetics and the initial rate of the reaction o, + l-l = OH + O . A rate equation is derived in which a modified expression for the total free radical content is substituted for the H concentration.
