The potential of TT to enhance the placebo effect requires further exploration but should not be discounted in seeking to relieve discomfort and distress and facilitate healing.
Distant intentionality and healing: assessing the evidence.
TLDR
Results across the experiments showed a significant and characteristic variation during distant intentionality periods, compared with randomly interspersed control periods, for an understanding of the possible mechanisms of distant healing, the nature of the mind-body relationship, and the role of consciousness in the physical world.

Quantitative research on therapeutic touch. An integrative review of the literature 1985-1995.
TLDR
There is evidence to support the practice of Therapeutic Touch for the reduction of pain or anxiety and there is clearly a lack of congruity between the research statement, conceptual framework, operational definition of TT and the findings.
A randomized, controlled trial of the effects of remote, intercessory prayer on outcomes in patients admitted to the coronary care unit.
TLDR
Remote, intercessory prayer was associated with lower CCU course scores, suggesting that prayer may be an effective adjunct to standard medical care.

TLDR
Previous investigations and the results of this study indicate that the ZSDS is a valid and sensitive measure of clinical severity in depressed patients and support its continued use as a research instrument.
