Laboratory investigations on the physico-chemical characteristic of a soil under agro forestry at two depths (0 to15cm and 15 to 45cm), were carried out in the Soil and Environmental Sciences Laboratory, N-W.F.P. Agricultural University, Peshawar during April 2003. Samples were collected at a distance of 5, 10, 15, and 20m from the Eucalyptus trees. Soil samples were analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic matter (O.M.), P, K and micronutrients (Zn, Cu, Fe, and Mn). All samples…

Status of Soil Fertility in a Community Forest of Nepal

Soil is a complex mixture of mineral nutrients, organic matter, water, air and living organisms. The primary nutrients for plant growth are organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. In

Eucalyptus species are blamed for negatively affecting the soil and inhibiting growth of other plants though it is extensively planted in Ethiopia. This study investigated the effect of Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus camaldulensis Woodlot Influences Soil Properties and Teff Yield on the Adjacent Croplands in Guraghe Zone, Central Ethiopia

In Ethiopia five Eucalyptus species were adopt wide area and Eucalyptus camaldulensisi more dominant in low land and middle land area and economically very important. This leads to farmers converted

Effect of Various Agroforestry Tree Species on Soil Chemical Properties of Irrigated Tree Plantation of Pakistan

Pakistan is a forest deficient country and natural forests are seriously depleted due to overutilization and lack of proper conservation practices. Agroforestry is being promoted to release the

The Effect of Mixed Plantation on the Stand Yield and Soil Attributes of Eucalyptus globulus and Acacia decurrens in North Shewa Zone, Ethiopia

Eucalyptus plantation has been playing a vital role in narrowing the gap between the supply and demand for wood and wood products in the region. Though eucalyptus is fast-growing and has a better

Effects of Eucalyptus citriodora on the physical and chemical properties of soils

The effects of Eucalyptus cilriodora on the physical and chemical properties of soil at different depths (0–30, 30–60 and 60–90 cm) were studied. The increase in the clay and silt content and

Distribution of some selected soil properties under agroforestry and agricultural crops

Field and laboratory investigations were made to study the distribution of some soil properties under agro-forestry (Eucalyptus + wheat) and agricultural crops (wheat). Eighteen soil samples were

A new soil test for simultaneous extraction of macro‐ and micro‐nutrients in alkaline soils

Abstract A new soil test was developed for simultaneous extraction of NO3, P, K, Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn from alkaline soils. The new extraction solution is 1 M in ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3), 0.005 M

Soil Nutrient Changes Under Different Ages Eucalyptus Monocultures

TLDR
The soil under 5 year and 20 year monocultures were less depleted because of faster mineralisation of residual organic matter in 5 years old monoculture and a gradation of soil nutrients as the monocculture aged as in 20 years oldmonoculture.

Beneficial and effective microorganisms in a sustainable agriculture and environment

Academy of Sciences issued the highly significant report, Alternative Agriculture, which defined alternative agriculture as a system of food and fiber production that applies management skills and

Use of ammonium bicarbonate DTPA soil test to evaluate elemental availability and toxicity

Abstract The literature published on the use of the Soltanpour and Schwab Ammonium Bicarbonate‐DTPA (AB‐DTPA) soil test shows that it can be used to determine availability and toxicity indices for

Soil Fertility and Fertilizers

TLDR
The only reliable method of determining the fertilizer needs of a lawn is through a soil test to reveal the soil's native fertility, which will pinpoint potential problems you could not be aware of.
