We have performed reaction product screening measurements using broadband rotational spectroscopy to identify rotational transition matches between laboratory spectra and the Green Bank Telescope PRIMOS radio astronomy survey spectra in Sagittarius B2 North (Sgr B2(N)). The broadband rotational spectrum of molecules created in an electrical discharge of CH3CN and H2S contained several frequency matches to unidentified features in the PRIMOS survey that did not have molecular assignments based… Expand
Chemical Simulations of Prebiotic Molecules: Interstellar Ethanimine Isomers
The E- and Z-isomers of ethanimine (CH3CHNH) were recently detected toward the star-forming region Sagittarius (Sgr) B2(N) using the Green Bank Telescope PRIMOS cm-wave spectral data, and imaged byExpand
Submillimeter spectra of 2-hydroxyacetonitrile (glycolonitrile; HOCH 2 CN) and its searches in GBT PRIMOS observations of Sgr B2(N)
Context. Recent experimental works have studied the possible formation of hydroxyacetonitrile on astrophysical grains. It was formed from hydrogen cyanide (HCN) and formaldehyde (H2CO) in theExpand
DETECTION OF E-CYANOMETHANIMINE TOWARD SAGITTARIUS B2(N) IN THE GREEN BANK TELESCOPE PRIMOS SURVEY
The detection of E-cyanomethanimine (E-HNCHCN) toward Sagittarius B2(N) is made by comparing the publicly available Green Bank Telescope (GBT) PRIMOS survey spectra to laboratory rotational spectraExpand
A prochiral precursor in space? Accurate laboratory characterization of acetylacetylene in the cm-wave region
Abstract The most prominent pure rotational transitions of the prochiral, possibly prebiotic molecule acetylacetylene are recorded in the frequency range of 6.5-26.5 GHz for a reliable spectralExpand
WEAK MASER EMISSION OF METHYL FORMATE TOWARD SAGITTARIUS B2(N) IN THE GREEN BANK TELESCOPE PRIMOS SURVEY
A non-LTE radiative transfer treatment of cis-methyl formate (HCOOCH3) rotational lines is presented for the first time using a set of theoretical collisional rate coefficients. These coefficientsExpand
An ATCA survey of Sagittarius B2 at 7 mm: chemical complexity meets broad-band interferometry
We present a 30 - 50 GHz survey of Sagittarius B2(N) conducted with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) with 5 - 10 arcsec resolution. This work releases the survey data and demonstrates theExpand
New molecular species at redshift z = 0.89.
TLDR
The first detections of CH3SH, C3H+, C3N, HCOOH, CH2CHCN, and H2CN in an extragalactic source are presented, and the molecular abundances are characteristic of diffuse or translucent clouds with enhanced UV radiation or strong shocks. Expand
Molecular polymorphism: microwave spectra, equilibrium structures, and an astronomical investigation of the HNCS isomeric family.
TLDR
Clear evidence for HSCN is found, and tentatively HNCS, displays clear deviations from a single-excitation temperature model, suggesting weak masing may be occurring in some transitions in this source. Expand
Exploring molecular complexity with ALMA (EMoCA): Alkanethiols and alkanols in Sagittarius B2(N2)
Context. Over the past five decades, radio astronomy has shown that molecular complexity is a natural outcome of interstellar chemistry, in particular in star forming regions. However, the pathwaysExpand
Observational Results of a Multi-telescope Campaign in Search of Interstellar Urea [(NH2)2CO]
In this paper, we present the results of an observational search for gas phase urea [(NH_2)_2CO] observed toward the Sgr B2(N-LMH) region. We show data covering urea transitions from ~100 GHz to 250Expand
