Le fait que la pression systolique a plus d'importance que la pression diastolique est montre par des etudes d'ordre epidemiologique, therapeutique et clinicopathologique. La mesure de la pression diastolique est plus delicate et demande plus de temps, notamment pour les infirmieres qui doivent controler et enregistrer les tensions des malades de nombreuses fois par jour. Il serait peut etre possible d'abandonner cette pratique
