To the Editor: —In view of the recent literature on the treatment of burns with tannic acid, I was interested to learn that ink has been a household remedy in the treatment of burns for many years in the Philippine Islands. Since most black inks are weak solutions of gallotannate of iron, this is another example of justification of the empiric use of an old home remedy.
