In this paper we discuss the systematics of quarkonium production at the LHC. In particular, we focus on the necessity to sum logs of the form log(Q/p⊥) and log(p⊥/mQ). We show that the former contributions are power suppressed, while the latter, whose contribution in fragmentation is well known, also arise in the short distance (i.e., non-fragmentation) production mechanisms. Though these contributions are suppressed by powers of mQ/p⊥, they can be enhanced by inverse powers of v, the relative…

Factorized power expansion for high-pT heavy quarkonium production.
We show that when the factorized cross section for heavy quarkonium production includes next-to-leading power contributions associated with the production of the heavy quark pair at short distances,
Fragmentation functions of polarized heavy quarkonium
A bstractInvestigating the production of polarized heavy quarkonia in terms of recently proposed QCD factorization formalism requires the knowledge of a large number of input fragmentation functions
NLO fragmentation functions of heavy quarks into heavy quarkonia
In this paper we derive the next-to-leading-order (NLO) fragmentation function for a heavy quark, either charm or bottom, into a heavy quarkonium J/Ψ or ϒ. The ultraviolet divergences in the real
Gluon fragmentation into quarkonium at next-to-leading order
A bstractWe present the first calculation at next-to-leading order (NLO) in αs of a fragmentation function into quarkonium whose form at leading order is a nontrivial function of z, namely the
Heavy quarkonium fragmentation functions from a heavy quark pair. II. $P$ wave
A QCD factorization formalism was recently proposed for evaluating heavy quarkonium production at large pT at collider energies. With systematically calculated short-distance partonic hard parts and
Inclusive Higgs Production at Large Transverse Momentum
We present a factorization formula for the inclusive production of the Higgs boson at large transverse momentum $P_T$ that includes all terms with the leading power of $1/P_T^2$. The cross section is
Mass dependence of Higgs production at large transverse momentum
A bstractThe transverse momentum distribution of the Higgs at large PT is complicated by its dependence on three important energy scales: PT, the top quark mass mt, and the Higgs mass mH. A strategy
Semi-analytical calculation of gluon fragmentation into 1S0[1,8] quarkonia at next-to-leading order
A bstractWe calculate the NLO corrections for the gluon fragmentation functions to a heavy quark-antiquark pair in 1S0[1] or 1S0[8] state within NRQCD factorization. We use integration-by-parts
Analytical calculation for the gluon fragmentation into spin-triplet S-wave quarkonium
Fragmentation is the dominant mechanism for hadron production with high transverse momentum. For spin-triplet S-wave heavy quarkonium production, contribution of gluon fragmenting to color-singlet
Background of Heavy Quarkonium Physics
Since the discovery of \({J/\psi }\) in 1974 [1, 2], heavy quarkonium physics has played an important role in revealing and in investigating the QCD at the interplay between the perturbative regime

There is, I think, something ethereal about i —the square root of minus one, which seems an odd beast at that time—an intruder hovering on the edge of reality.
