Cascabela is a Neotropical genus of Apocynaceae with six species: C. balsaensis, C. gaumeri, C. ovata, C. pinifolia, C. thevetia and C. thevetioides. Its taxonomic history has long been a subject of controversy, especially due to its circumscription as a genus closely related to Thevetia. In this work, we revised the taxonomy of Cascabela for Mexico and provide detailed descriptions and illustrations. We also applied species distribution models and geographical information tools to evaluate… Expand
Seed ecology of Captain Cook tree [Cascabela thevetia (L.) Lippold] – germination and longevity
TLDR
The results demonstrate that C. thevetia seeds can germinate over a wide temperature range, whereas the ability of seed to remain viable at low temperatures highlights the potential for expansion of its current potential distribution towards southern latitudes of the Australian continent. Expand
Three New Alien Taxa for Europe and a Chorological Update on the Alien Vascular Flora of Calabria (Southern Italy)
TLDR
New data on 34 alien taxa is reported, providing the first geolocalized record of Araujia sericifera, the confirmation of Oxalis stricta, and a change of status for four taxa for Calabria. Expand
Use of Ecological Niche Models of Plant Species to Optimize Placement of Apiaries
TLDR
The results support that ENM are a good strategy to predict the ideal habitat for species important for beekeeping, and thus determine the best places to establish apiaries in the region. Expand
Notulae to the Italian native vascular flora: 3
TLDR
New data concerning the distribution of vascular flora alien to Italy are presented and nomenclature and distribution updates, published elsewhere, and corrections are provided as supplementary material. Expand
Propuesta de evaluación para asignar tentativamente riesgo de extinción (ETRE): el caso de Peltogyne mexicana (Leguminosae)
Background : The rates of extinction evaluations are slow in relation to the magnitude of the problem. In the case of plants, just about 6 % of the species have been evaluated. On the other hand, itExpand
Notulae to the Italian alien vascular flora: 10
In this contribution, new data concerning the distribution of vascular flora alien to Italy are presented. It includes new records, confirmations, exclusions, and status changes for Italy or forExpand

A PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS OF THE CASCABELA–THEVETIA SPECIES COMPLEX (PLUMERIEAE, APOCYNACEAE) BASED ON MORPHOLOGY1
TLDR
The topology supports the monophyly of the Cascabela–Thevetia species complex, but it is not conclusive to whether Casc Isabela should be recognized as a genus or as a subgenus of Thevetia. Expand
Datos para la apreciación de la flora fanerogámica del bosque tropical caducifolio de México
A list of 749 genera of flowering plants containing at least one species that grows exclusively or preferentially in the tropical deciduous forest (tdf) of Mexico is provided. The Leguminosae is theExpand

Linajes de angiospermas endémicas en México: zonas de alto endemismo para la conservación
As a megadiverse country, Mexico harbors 4 to 8% of the flora of the world and of this, 51% is endemic. There is concern because several factors are impeding its conservation. In this paper, areas ofExpand
IS MANDEVILLA (APOCYNACEAE, MESECHITEAE) MONOPHYLETIC? EVIDENCE FROM FIVE PLASTID DNA LOCI AND MORPHOLOGY1
TLDR
Maximum parsimony analysis was conducted on a data set comprising DNA sequences from five plastid loci and morphological data for 65 taxa of Mesechiteae and its affinities to other genera in the tribe, and Mandevilla was found to be monophyletic, whereas Woodson's circumscription proved to be polyphyletic. Ecological niche models and patterns of richness and endemism of the southern Andean genus Eurymetopum (Coleoptera, Cleridae)
TLDR
One area of endemism was identified, located in the Maule and Valdivian Forest biogeographic provinces, which extends also to the Santiago province of the Central Chilean subregion, and contains four endemic species, as well as 16 non-endemic species. Expand
Tribal and intergeneric relationships of Mesechiteae (Apocynoideae, Apocynaceae): evidence from three noncoding plastid DNA regions and morphology.
TLDR
A maximum parsimony analysis was conducted based on DNA sequences and morphological data for 23 taxa of Mesechiteae and 11 taxa from other tribes of Apocynoideae to test the monophyly of the tribe and evaluate intratribal relationships. Expand

Phylogenetic Relationships of Asclepias (Apocynaceae) Inferred from Non-Coding Chloroplast DNA Sequences
TLDR
The results are consistent with taxonomic restriction of Asclepias to American species and single colonization events from Africa to North America and North America to South America, and point to a need for major restructuring of infrageneric classification and future revsionary work. Expand
