  • The following notes were made during a study of the present family for a proposed check list of the Palearctic region. Nine of the 14 species that occur in this region, or some of their races, are discussed: Lanius bucephalus, L. collurio, L. senator, L. vittatus (in which a new subspecies is described), L. schach, L. tephronotus, L. minor, L. excubitor, and Tchagra senegala.
