Abstract : This technical report documents the findings of an internal research and development effort on system of systems interoperability (SOSI). The study was based on the belief that interoperability must occur at multiple levels within and across programs, and not solely in the context of a system construction. The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) looked at the full range of barriers to achieving interoperability between systems, including programmatic, constructive, and operational…

Coalition Interoperability Measurement Frameworks Literature Survey

Abstract : This paper is the report of a review of selected works that were referred to in a 2007 survey of methods to measure interoperability between military forces. It forms part of an effort to

Methodology for Prior Evaluation of Interoperability

A framework for evaluating and improving interoperability in each one of partners collaborating in a supply chain is proposed and a methodology for prior evaluation of interoperability and improvement based on this framework is proposed.

Developing enterprise collaboration: a methodology to implement and improve interoperability

The aim of this article is to present a methodology for guiding enterprises to implement and improve interoperability based on a framework of interoperability which structures specific solutions of interoperable and is composed of abstraction levels, views and approaches dimensions.

Measuring tool chain interoperability in Cyber-Physical Systems

This systematic literature review gives an overview of the literature about interoperability assessment methods and finds that no proof of industrial adaptation of these models was found in the context of CPS development.

Towards an Ontology of SoS Interoperability: Proposition of a SoS Interoperability Framework and a SoS Conceptual Interoperability Model

An interoperability framework and a conceptual model to formally structure knowledge about SoS Engineering and build an Ontology of SoS Interoperability (OoSoSI).

Interoperability-Related Architectural Problems and Solutions in Information Systems: A Scoping Study

This research extracted a number of architectural interoperability problems and before-release solutions of interoperability on its different levels in information systems, and explored the interoperability metrics and research methods used to evaluate identified solutions.

Interoperable Acquisition for Systems of Systems: The Challenges

This report explores how systems-of-systems realities necessitate changes in the processes used to acquire, develop, field, and sustain operational capability.

SOSI: System of Systems Interoperability

Results of an SEI IR&D project dealing with system of systems interoperability are presented to identify critical interoperability issues and gain insight into programs that are solving critical problems and develop recommendations for future research.

A reliability-based measurement of interoperability for systems of systems

A flexible, intuitive measure of interoperability of system pairs within a potential architecture performing a set of resource exchanges is presented to provide decision makers with information about an architecture and allow them to compare existing and potential systems of systems during the early phases of acquisition.

Revealing Cost Drivers for Systems Integration and Interoperability Through Q Methodology

Organizations are increasingly seeking to enhance performance and efficiency and establish new capabilities by integrating previously developed software systems. As organizations undertake the

Organisational Interoperability: Evaluation and Further Development of the OIM Model

This paper describes how the DSTO developed an Organizational Interoperability Maturity Model (OIM) has been used to identify problems and to conduct evaluations in coalition operations such as INTERFET and the Australia US Inter interoperability Review.

The Levels of Conceptual Interoperability Model

A general model dealing with various levels of conceptual interoperability that goes beyond the technical reference models for interoperable solutions is introduced, intended to become a bridge between the conceptual design and the technical design for implementation, integration, or federation.

Beyond Technical Interoperability - Introducing a Reference Model for Measures of Merit for Coalition Interoperability

Based on the experience in several international projects, the author developed a framework to deal with possible measures of merits to be used to deals with the various layers of semantic interoperability in coalition operations.
