Synthetic peptide octarphin (TPLVTLFK, a selective agonist of nonopioid β‐endorphin receptor) was able to activate in a dose‐dependent manner murine macrophages to express nitric oxide (NO) synthase and to produce NO. Octarphin required lipopolysacharide for the optimal induction of NO production.
