2.1.1 Abstract Zirconium tetrachloride catalyzed highly efficient method was developed for the one-pot, three component reaction of 3,4-dihydro(2H)-pyran, urea and benzaldehyde in ethanol. In the present method, hexahydropyranopyrimidinones, having three chiral centers which is biological active moiety is formed in highly selective way. This method has various advantages such as easy availability of starting materials, lower cost, higher yield and shorter reaction time.
