Literature survey revealed that a good number of anthracene and substituted anthracences are potential lasing organic compounds. As per Mitsuo Maeda 9,10 dimethyl and 9,10 diphenyl anthracenes exhibit lasing properties around, 435-450nm. In continuation of our studies27 it was proposed to synthesize new lasing organic dyes in particular, new anthracene derivatives and study their photophysical properties besides the lasing characteristics.
