AIM To develop a rationally designed new organotin compound namely dimethyl tin 4-cyclohexyl thiosemicarbazone (D4-t) and evaluate its putative antitumor activity. METHODS Starting from 4-cyclohexyl thiosemicarbazone, a three step synthetic procedure was followed to obtain the title compound. In vivo lymphocyte activation property of the compound at three different doses was assayed by measuring the blastogenesis. Concanavalin A (ConA) was used as standard mitogen for murine T cells…

Synthesis and characterization of tin(IV)/organotin(IV) complexes with 2-benzoylpyridine-N(4)-cyclohexylthiosemicarbazone [HBPCT]: X-ray crystal structure of [SnCl3(BPCT)]

Four new tin(IV)/organotin(IV) complexes, [SnCl3(BPCT)] (2), [MeSnCl2(BPCT)] (3), [Me2SnCl(BPCT)] (4), and [Ph2SnCl(BPCT)] (5), have been synthesized by the direct reaction of

Cytotoxic effects of two organotin compounds and their mode of inflicting cell death on four mammalian cancer cells

Testing the cytotoxicity of two organotin (OT) compounds by flow cytometry on a panel of immortalized cancer cell lines of human and murine origin demonstrates that the two OT compounds possess selective cytotoxic against distinct transformed cell lines.

The data suggest that the present tin compound has antiproliferative ability and can increase the survival of mice bearing Dalton's lymphoma and the endogenous GSH level influences the effect of the tin compound.

EVALUATION OF NAPROMUSTINE, A NITROGEN MUSTARD DERIVATIVE OF NAPHTHALIMIDE, AS A RATIONALLY DESIGNED MIXED-FUNCTION ANTICANCER AGENT

Napromustine has displayed an excellent and reproducible antitumor activity in vivo against Sarcoma-180 and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma comparable to that of fluorouracil judging by the increase in median survival times of treated animals.

Antitumor activity of a new orally active organotin compound: a preliminary study in murine tumor models

The results indicate that IST-FS 29 might be a suitable candidate as an orally administrable anticancer drug and support its further development in human tumor xenografts.
