Thin films of phase pure pyrochlore Gd2Ti2O7 have been synthesized by RF magnetron sputtering. The films were prepared from oxide targets in 50%O2/Ar atmosphere and deposited on 111 YSZ substrates at a temperature of 800C. The pyrochlore structure was confirmed via grazing angle x-ray diffraction and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). TEM analysis also showed that the films were dense and of uniform thickness with surface roughness of approximately 8nm. The total conductivity measured…

Structure of the Ln2Ti2O7 thin films prepared by pulsed-laser evaporation
The structure of Ln2Ti2O7 thin films prepared by pulsed-laser evaporation was studied using X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The dependence of structure upon substrate
Pyrochlore microdomain formation in fluorite oxides
The pyrochlore microdomain formation in the fluorite lattice was investigated by means of electron microscope techniques, especially for the system (TbxGd1−x)2 Zr2O7+y (0 x 1; 0 y 0.2 or specimens
Heavy-ion irradiation effects in Gd2(Ti2−xZrx)O7 pyrochlores
Gd 2 (Ti 2-x Zr x )O 7 samples with 0≤x≤1.5 were single-phase and pyrochlore structured after sintering at 1600°C in air. The Gd 2 Zr 2 O 7 (x = 2) end member predominantly displayed an anion
Ionic diffusion as a matter of lattice-strain for electroceramic thin films
Abstract Ionic conducting metal oxide thin films for Si-wafer based electroceramic devices are of high relevance to allow for new applications, quicker response times, and higher efficiencies. Metal
Does local disorder occur in the pyrochlore zirconates?
TLDR
These studies demonstrate that as the size of the lanthanoid cation decreases, the local structure evolves smoothly from the ideal pyrochlore toward the defect fluorite rather than undergoing an abrupt transformation.
Intrinsic Structural Disorder and Radiation Response of Nanocrystalline Gd2(Ti0.65Zr0.35)2O7 Pyrochlore
Isometric pyrochlore, A2B2O7, has been extensively studied as a phase for the incorporation of actinides because of its use as an inert matrix nuclear fuel and waste form. A critical issue is the
Defect structures and migration mechanisms in oxide pyrochlores
Using computer simulation techniques the defect structure and oxygen ion migration mechanism of oxide pyrochlores (eg. Gd2Zr2O7) was investigated in order to explain the decreased activation enthalpy
