In the present study Carbon Dots (CDs) derived from Indian essential oils Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata), Basil (Ocimum basilicium), Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) have been synthesized and characterized for their potential exquisite applications. The CD nanoscale particles were synthesized using simple green pyrolysis method without engaging external agents. The particles were well below 10 nm in size and showed activities unparallel to that of conventional CDs…

Novel synthesis of high-thermal stability carbon dots and nanocomposites from oleic acid as an organic substrate

Novel high-thermal stability photoluminescent carbon dots (CDs) with a quantum yield of 50% in water were synthesized using oleic acid as an organic substrate. The synthesized CDs were of the order

Impacts of Carbon Dots on Rice Plants: Boosting the Growth and Improving the Disease Resistance

It is shown that CDs can penetrate into all parts of rice plants, including the cell nuclei, and are capable of entering the cell, reaching the nucleus, loosening the DNA structure, and increasing the thionin gene expression, which enhanced the rice-plant disease-resistance ability.

Comparative anticancer potential of clove (Syzygium aromaticum)--an Indian spice--against cancer cell lines of various anatomical origin.

In the examined five cancer cell lines, the extracts showed different patterns of cell growth inhibition activity, with the oil extract having maximal cytotoxic activity, and no significant cytotoxicity was found in human PBMC's at the same dose.

Biological effects, antioxidant and anticancer activities of marigold and basil essential oils

The results indicated that the anticancer activity of marigold essential oil was higher than basil essential oil against NB4 and EACC cell lines, while basil essentialOil wasHigher than marigolds essential oilagainst HL-60 cell line.
