Synthesis and antituberculous activity of 9-aminoacridine azomethines

Abstract

Condensation of 9-aminoacridine with p-substituted aromatic aldehydes led to the synthesis of the corresponding azomethines at yields of 60–78%. 9-Aminoacridine azomethines were found to have in vitro antituberculous activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv at a concentration of 6.25 µg/ml.
