Synovial chondromatosis is an unusual monoarticular condition of the synovial membrane of the joint and may occasionally involve the bursae and tendon sheaths. 5' 7. 9, 11, 12 Although the disease most often affects the knee, elbow, or hip joints, other joints such as the wrist, ankle, shoulder, and the small joints of the hand may be involved.
