Synodontisia moraveci n. sp. (Oxyuroidea: Pharyngodonidae), described from Osteochilus melanopleurus (Bleeker) (Cyprinidae) from Malaysia, is the 20th species of oxyuroid to be described from fish. It is distinguished from S. thelastomoides Petter, Vassiliades & Troncy, 1972 of Synodontis spp. in Africa by the absence of a spicule and the presence of two separate papillae on the caudal appendage rather than a fused pair as found in S. thelastomoides. The two species of Synodontisia are similar… Expand

Nematodes of Cithariniella (Pharyngodonidae) from freshwater fishes in Senegal, with a key to species
Morphological characteristics obtained by scanning electron microscopy correspond well to the generic diagnosis and represent species differences and the shape and size of the cephalic papillae and lips were identified as a new determination feature. Expand

Structure of the cephalic end in the genus Cithariniella Khalil, 1964 (Nematoda: Pharyngodonidae) as revealed by SEM, with a key to pharyngodonid genera from fishes
The cephalic end of the type-species of the pharyngodonid genus Cithariniella, C. citharini Khalil, 1964, a parasite of African freshwater fishes, was studied, indicating certain relationships between African and South and Central American pharygodonid nematodes parasitising freshwater fishes. The Oxyurida comprises some 850 known species that occur in the intestine of arthropods and vertebrates (one species in annelids) and like many haplodiploid groups, pinworms tend to have life histories that involve high levels of inbreeding. Expand
