We explore both analytically and numerically an ensemble of coupled phase oscillators governed by a Kuramoto-type system of differential equations. However, we have included the effects of time delay (due to finite signal-propagation speeds) and network plasticity (via dynamic coupling constants) inspired by the Hebbian learning rule in neuroscience. When time delay and learning effects combine, interesting synchronization phenomena are observed. We investigate the formation of spatiotemporal…

Effects of synaptic and myelin plasticity on learning in a network of Kuramoto phase oscillators.
TLDR
A fully connected, one-dimensional ring network of phase oscillators whose coupling strength as well as conduction velocity are each regulated by a Hebbian learning rule is constructed, confirming that network states following learning may be different when myelination is considered in addition to synaptic plasticity.
Solitary states in adaptive nonlocal oscillator networks
In this article, we analyze a nonlocal ring network of adaptively coupled phase oscillators. We observe a variety of frequency-synchronized states such as phase-locked, multicluster and solitary
Synchronization of phase-coupled oscillators with plastic coupling strength
TLDR
This article studies synchronization of systems of homogeneous phase-coupled oscillators with plastic coupling strengths and arbitrary underlying topology with sufficient stability and instability conditions that are based on results from algebraic graph theory.
Dynamics of a network of phase oscillators with plastic couplings
The processes of synchronization and phase cluster formation are investigated in a complex network of dynamically coupled phase oscillators. Coupling weights evolve dynamically depending on the phase
Towards a continuous dynamic model of the Hopfield theory on neuronalinteraction and memory storage
TLDR
The aim is to understand how and why neurons can be seen as oscillators and to establish a strong link between this model and the Hopfield approach.
Interplay of adaptivity and multiplexing in networks of adaptively coupled phase oscillators
TLDR
It is shown by theoretical analysis and computer simulations that multiplexing in a multi-layer network with symmetry can induce various stable phase cluster states in a situation where they are not stable or do not even exist in the single layer.
Effect of diluted connectivities on cluster synchronization of adaptively coupled oscillator networks
TLDR
This work investigates the robustness of multicluster states on networks of adaptively coupled Kuramoto-Sakaguchi oscillators against the random dilution of the underlying network topology, utilizing the master stability approach for adaptive networks in order to highlight the interplay between adaptivity and topology.
Development of structural correlations and synchronization from adaptive rewiring in networks of Kuramoto oscillators
TLDR
This work finds that a simple rule can cause initially disordered networks to organize into more structured topologies that support enhanced synchronization dynamics, and offers a mechanism through which emergent phenomena and organization can arise in complex systems utilizing local rules.
