The lobus parolfactorius (LPO) has been implicated in memory formation associated with passive avoidance training of young posthatch domestic chicks. The anatomical circuitry underlying memory formation in the chick is likely to involve the intermediate medial hyperstriatum ventrale-archistriatum-LPO arc.
