@article{ORyan2009SymptomaticAA, title={Symptomatic and Asymptomatic Rotavirus and Norovirus Infections During Infancy in a Chilean Birth Cohort}, author={Miguel O'Ryan and Yalda Lucero and Valeria J Prado and Mar{\'i}a Elena Santolaya and Marcela Rabello and Yanahara Sol{\'i}s and D C Berrios and Miguel A O'Ryan-Soriano and H{\'e}ctor Cort{\'e}s and Nora Maman{\'i}}, journal={The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal}, year={2009}, volume={28}, pages={879-884} }
Background: Rotavirus and more recently norovirus have been recognized as 2 of the most common causes of acute diarrhea in children. Comparative analysis of these infections in a birth cohort has not been performed and can provide relevant insight on clinical and viral behaviors. Methods: Mother-infant pairs from middle-low socioeconomic background living in the Metropolitan Region of Chile are being followed for 18 months in 2 outpatient clinics. Infants are evaluated monthly for asymptomatic…

Noroviruses are a significant cause of moderate to severe endemic ADE in Chilean children and an effective norovirus vaccine would be of significant additional benefit to the current rotavirus vaccine in decreasing disease burden associated with ADE.

Rotavirus and Norovirus infections among acute gastroenteritis children in Morocco
- Medicine, BiologyBMC Infectious Diseases
- 2014
This study suggests that in Morocco, norovirus is the most frequent cause of acute gastroenteritis after rotavirus, but further enteric viruses need to be integrated in the surveillance system so that a conclusion could be drawn.
Temporal Changes in Pediatric Gastroenteritis after Rotavirus Vaccination in Quebec

Norovirus infections were more prevalent than rotavirus infections among pediatric gastroenteritis cases hospitalized or seeking emergency care, andRotavirus cases were, on average, more clinically severe than norovirus cases among participants of the same age.

The high incidence and apparent lack of genogroupII specific immunity indicate the need for careful studies on further characterization of strains, asymptomatic infection and shedding and immune response to further the authors' understanding of norovirus infection and disease.
