Fluorescence microscopy of thymus and spleen from four strains of mice (C3H and ICR controls, AKR spontaneously leukemic and NZB autoimmune) revealed varicose noradrenergic (NE) fibers in perivascular and parenchymal regions of both organs. Thymic innervation was largely perivascular, but isolated islands and strings of free NE fibers were noted among thymic parenchymal cells.
