We investigate the compatibility of the Symmetron with dark energy by introducing a non-minimal kinetic term associated with the Symmetron. In this new model, the effect of the friction term appearing in the equation of motion of the Symmetron field becomes more pronounced due to the non-minimal kinetic term appearing in the action and, under specific conditions after symmetry breaking, the universe experiences an accelerating phase which, in spite of the large effective mass of the scalar…

Dark matter from symmetron field

We consider dynamics of a symmetron-like field to investigate dark matter effects on galaxy scales. For this purpose, we propose a model for the metric components of a spherically symmetric

Symmetry breaking, and the effect of matter density on neutrino oscillation

A proposal for the neutrino mass, based on neutrino-scalar field interaction, is introduced. The scalar field is also non-minimally coupled to the Ricci scalar, and hence relates the neutrino mass to

Hairy Waves: Gravitational Waves in the presence of Screening Mechanism

We consider a binary system in the context of screened modified gravity models and investigate its emitted gravitational wave which has been shown that is a hairy wave. We derive power of the

Non-minimal Kinetic coupling to gravity and accelerated expansion

We study a scalar field with kinetic term coupled to itself and to the curvature, as a source of dark energy, and analyze the role of this new coupling in the accelerated expansion at large times. In

Symmetron and de Sitter attractor in a teleparallel model of cosmology

In the teleparallel framework of cosmology, a quintessence with non-minimal couplings to the scalar torsion and a boundary term is considered. A conformal coupling to matter density is also taken

Symmetron Cosmology

The symmetron is a scalar field associated with the dark sector whose coupling to matter depends on the ambient matter density. The symmetron is decoupled and screened in regions of high density,

Nonminimal Derivative Couplings and Inflation in Generalized Theories of Gravity

We study extended theories of gravity where nonminimal derivative couplings of the form Rklϕ,kϕ,l are present in the Lagrangian. We show how and why the other couplings of similar structure may be

Nonminimal Derivative Coupling and the Recovering of Cosmological Constant

We show that the existence of the cosmologicalconstant can be connected to a nonminimal derivativecoupling, in the action of gravity, between the geometryand the kinetic part of a given scalar

Spontaneous symmetry breaking in cosmos: the hybrid symmetron as a dark energy switching device

We consider symmetron model in a generalized background with a hope to make it compatible with dark energy. We observe a ``no go'' theorem at least in case of a conformal coupling. Being convinced of

Non-minimal derivative coupling gravity in cosmology

We give a brief review of the non-minimal derivative coupling (NMDC) scalar field theory in which there is non-minimal coupling between the scalar field derivative term and the Einstein tensor. We

PPN parameters in gravitational theory with nonminimally derivative coupling

The nonminimal coupling of the kinetic term to Einstein's tensor helps the implementation of inflationary models due to the gravitationally enhanced friction. We calculate the parametrized

Cosmology with nonminimal kinetic coupling and a Higgs-like potential

We consider cosmological dynamics in the theory of gravity with the scalar field possessing the nonminimal kinetic coupling to curvature given as κGμνϕ,μϕ,ν, and the Higgs-like potential . Using the
