Topological eld theories of Schwarz-type generally admit symmetries whose algebra does not close o-shell, e.g. the basic symmetries of BF models or vector supersymmetry of the gauge-xed action for Chern-Simons theory (this symmetry being at the origin of the perturbative niteness of the theory). We present a detailed discussion of all these symmetries within the algebraic approach to the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. Moreover, we discuss the general algebraic construction of topological models…

The perturbative niteness of various topological models (e.g. BF models) has its origin in an extra symmetry of the gauge-xed action, the so-called vector su- persymmetry. Since an invariance of this…

We review some approaches to the Hamiltonian dynamics of (loop) quantum gravity, the main issues being the regularization of the Hamiltonian and the continuum limit. First, Thiemann's definition of…

We propose an N = 2 twisted superspace formalism with a central charge in four dimensions by introducing a Dirac–Kahler twist. Using this formalism, we construct an off-shell twisted hypermultiplet…

We present a simple derivation of vector supersymmetry transformations for topological field theories of Schwarz- and Witten-type. Our method is similar to the derivation of BRST-transformations from…

The role of symmetries, both discrete and continuous, in Quantum Mechanics is one of the main topics of a Standard course for graduate students. In Quantum Field Theory symmetries are even more…
