We review some recent developments about strongly interacting relativistic Fermi theories in three spacetime dimensions. These models realize the asymptotic safety scenario and are used to describe the low-energy properties of Dirac materials in condensed matter physics. We begin with a general discussion of the symmetries of multi-flavor Fermi systems in arbitrary dimensions. Then we review known results about the critical flavor number $N_\mathrm{crit}$ of Thirring models in three dimensions…

Induced topological gravity and anomaly inflow from Kähler-Dirac fermions in odd dimensions
We show that the effective action that results from integrating out massive K¨ahler-Dirac fermions propagating on a curved three dimensional space is a topological gravity theory of Chern-Simons type.

Absence of chiral symmetry breaking in Thirring models in 1+2 dimensions
The Thirring model is an interacting fermion theory with current-current interaction. The model in $1+2$ dimensions has applications in condensed-matter physics to describe the electronic excitations
Critical flavor number in the 2+1D Thirring model
The Thirring model in 2+1 spacetime dimensions, in which $N$ flavors of relativistic fermion interact via a contact interaction between conserved fermion currents, is studied using lattice field
Inhomogeneous phases in the Gross-Neveu model in 1+1 dimensions at finite number of flavors
We explore the thermodynamics of the 1+1-dimensional Gross-Neveu (GN) model at finite number of fermion flavors $N_f$, finite temperature and finite chemical potential using lattice field theory. In
Critical flavor number in the three dimensional Thirring model
We present results of a Monte Carlo simulation of the three dimensional Thirring model with the number of fermion flavors N{sub f} varied between 2 and 18. By identifying the lattice coupling at
Baryons in the Gross-Neveu model in 1+1 dimensions at finite number of flavors
In a recent work we studied the phase structure of the Gross-Neveu (GN) model in $1+1$ dimensions at finite number of fermion flavors $N_\mathrm{f} = 2, 8, 16$, finite temperature and finite chemical
Three-dimensional four-fermion theories with exact chiral symmetry on the lattice
Four-fermion theories are quantum field theories that describe interactions between fermions via a fourth power of the field in the Lagrangian. Formulated in three spacetime dimensions, their purpose
Momentum dependence of quantum critical Dirac systems
We analyze fermionic criticality in relativistic $2+1$ dimensional fermion systems using the functional renormalization group (FRG), concentrating on the Gross-Neveu (chiral Ising) and the Thirring
UV fixed-point structure of the three-dimensional Thirring model
We investigate the UV fixed-point structure of the three-dimensional Thirring model by means of the functional renormalization group. We classify all possible 4-fermi interactions compatible with the
Critical behaviour in the single-flavor Planar Thirring Model
We report results of simulations of the 2 + 1d Thirring model with N fermion flavors, defined on a lattice using domain wall fermions. This approach is devised to respect as far as possible the
