We discuss SU(2) Bogomolny monopoles of arbitrary charge k invariant under various symmetry groups. The analysis is largely in terms of the spectral curves, the rational maps, and the Nahm equations associated with monopoles. We consider monopoles invariant under inversion in a plane, monopoles with cyclic symmetry, and monopoles having the symmetry of a regular solid. We introduce the notion of a strongly centred monopole and show that the space of such monopoles is a geodesic submanifold of… Expand

Monopole Scattering with a Twist
• Physics

Abstract By imposing certain combined inversion and rotation symmetries on the rational maps for SU(2) BPS monopoles we construct geodesics in the monopole moduli space. In the moduli spaceExpand
Applications to holographic theories have led to some recent interest in magnetic monopoles in four-dimensional Anti-de Sitter spacetime. This paper is concerned with a study of these monopoles,Expand
On the Tetrahedrally Symmetric Monopole
• Mathematics, Physics

We study SU(2) BPS monopoles with spectral curves of the form η3+χ(ζ6+bζ3−1) = 0. Previous work has established a countable family of solutions to Hitchin’s constraint that L2 was trivial on such aExpand
Inversion symmetric 3-monopoles and the Atiyah-Hitchin manifold
• Physics
• 1996
We consider 3-monopoles symmetric under inversion symmetry. We show that the moduli space of these monopoles is an Atiyah - Hitchin submanifold of the 3-monopole moduli space. This allows what isExpand
Polyhedral scattering of fundamental monopoles

The dynamics of n slowly moving fundamental monopoles in the SU(n+1) BPS Yang–Mills–Higgs theory can be approximated by geodesic motion on the 4n-dimensional hyperkahler Lee–Weinberg–Yi manifold. InExpand
The moduli space metric for tetrahedrally symmetric 4-monopoles
Abstract The metric on the moduli space of SU(2) charge four BPS monopoles with tetrahedral symmetry is calculated using numerical methods. In the asymptotic region, in which the four monopoles areExpand
Aspects of Vortices and Hyperbolic Monopoles
This thesis discusses BPS monopoles in hyperbolic space and BPS vortices in the presence of magnetic impurities. We prove explicit formulae for the spectral curve and rational map of a JNR-typeExpand
Magnetic monopole dynamics, supersymmetry, and duality
• Physics

Abstract We review the properties of BPS, or supersymmetric, magnetic monopoles, with an emphasis on their low-energy dynamics and their classical and quantum bound states. After an overview ofExpand
Spectral Curves and the Mass of Hyperbolic Monopoles
• Mathematics, Physics
• 2007
The moduli spaces of hyperbolic monopoles are naturally fibred by the monopole mass, and this leads to a nontrivial mass dependence of the holomorphic data (spectral curves, rational maps,Expand
Parabolic Higgs bundles and cyclic monopole chains.
We establish a correspondence between SU(2) monopole chains and "spectral data", consisting of curves in $\mathbb{CP}^1\times\mathbb{CP}^1$ equipped with parabolic line bundles. This is the analogExpand

Monopoles and rational maps: A note on a theorem of Donaldson
