Specimens of Syllidae (Polychaeta) were collected from a coarse sediment habitat in the intertidal zone of the Chausey Archipelago (English Channel, France). Twenty-one species of Syllidae were identified in this zone, including two new species, which are described herein. Prosphaerosyllis chauseyensis, n. sp. is characterized by a distinct digitiform papilla on antennae, tentacular and dorsal cirri, and by the presence of two sizes of dermal papillae without any specific arrangement…
Syllidae (Annelida: Phyllodocida) from the deep Mediterranean Sea, with the description of three new species.
Present data, along with a critical analysis of available literature, show that Syllidae are highly diverse in deep Mediterranean environments, even though they are rarely reported, probably due to the scarce number of studies devoted to the size-fraction of benthos including deep-sea syllids.
The hidden worms on the beach: interstitial Syllidae (Annelida) from the Indo-Pacific
A total of 49 species belonging to 19 genera of interstitial Syllidae (Annelida) are reported, most of these species are already known in the Indo-Pacific area, but these reports extend their distributional ranges.
An account of the taxonomy and distribution of Syllidae (Annelida, Polychaetes) in the eastern Mediterranean, with notes on the genus Prosphaerosyllis San Martín, 1984 in the Mediterranean
The syllid fauna of three locations in Crete and Israel was studied, yielding 82 syllid species, many of which were found for the first time in the respective areas, including Perkinsyllis augeneri and Prosphaerosyllis chauseyensis, which are new records for the Mediterranean Sea.
Diversity, distribution and ecology of the family Syllidae (Annelida) in the Portuguese coast (Western Iberian Peninsula)
Abstract The diversity, distribution and ecology of the family Syllidae along the Western Iberian coast was studied, based on 145 sediment samples covering the whole Portuguese coastal shelf and 30
Guide and keys for the identification of Syllidae (Annelida, Phyllodocida) from the British Isles (reported and expected species)
This paper provides the revised keys to enable rapid identification of Syllidae from the seas around Britain and Ireland, and proposes a new combination, Palposyllis propeweismanni, which is proposed.
Revisited Syllidae of the English Channel coarse sediment communities
Seven Syllidae species are new for the EC polychaete fauna and six others are observed for the first time in the eastern part of the EC, mostly in coarse sediments.
On Some New Recorded Syllidae (Polychaeta: Phyllodocida) for Mediterranean Waters
Aims: This paper gives an account of the syllid species from different stations Rasheed, Domiatte, El Borrulus, Bardweel, El Aresh, also provides some information on the morphology, distribution an d
Contribution of Scanning Electron Microscope to the Study of Morphology, Biology, Reproduction, and Phylogeny of the Family Syllidae (Polychaeta)
This is the first paper, in the knowledge, in which some previously overlooked structures were showed and described thanks to SEM; finally, Sarda & San Martin (1992) redescribed one species of syllid from East coast of USA, with some SEM pictures.

Description of five new species of Exogoninae Rioja, 1925 (Polychaeta: Syllidae) associated with the stony coral Mussismilia hispida (Verrill, 1868) in Saõ Paulo State, Brazil
Analysis of the syllids associated with these coral heads led to the identification of three new species of Sphaerosyllis: S. isabellae, S. brasiliensis and S. mussismiliaicola, and two of Grubeosyllis, descriptions of which are here presented.
Exogoninae (Polychaeta: Syllidae) from Australia with the description of a new genus and twenty-two new species
Large collections of Syllidae (Polychaeta) from around Australia, which were deposited at the Australian Museum (Sydney), and at Museum Victoria as well as some specimens from Tasmania, have been
Revision of the genus Pionosyllis (Polychaeta: Syllidae: Eusyllinae), with a cladistic analysis, and the description of five new genera and two new species
The diagnosis of Pionosyllis is emended, and five new genera are proposed: SynmerosyllIS, Basidiosyllis, Westheidesyllis; Perkinsyllis and Brevicirrosyllis, which are newly named within the frame of a new Linnean classified group.
Phylogeny of Syllidae (Polychaeta) based on morphological data
The authors' results indicated high levels of homoplasy in the morphological characteristics that traditionally used to differentiate groups, such as the fusion of palps and the presence of nuchal epaulettes in the Syllidae.
The genus Streptosyllis Webster and Benedict, 1884 (Polychaeta: Syllidae: Eusyllinae) from the Canary Islands, with description of a new species
Four species of the genus Streptosyllis from the Canary Islands are reported and described, including a new species characterized by compound setae with falcate teeth and a unique distribution of the enlarged aciculae.
Revision of Autolytinae (Syllidae: Polychaeta)
The relationships of Autolytinae is assessed from 51 morphological characters and 211 states for 76 ingroup-taxa, and 460 molecular characters from mitochondrial 16S r DNA and nuclear 18S rDNA for 31 ingroup -taxa; outgroups include 12 non-autolytine syllid polychaetes.
Description of two new species of Sphaerosyllis (Polychaeta: Syllidae: Exogoninae) and first report of Sphaerosyllis glandulata for the Mediterranean Sea

The North Sea benthic system: a 36 year time-series
There is evidence that the changes in composition of the macrobenthic infauna were driven by fishing impacts, but also influenced by the trend in climate warming and altered fluxes of phytoplankton to the benthos.
