The cellulolytic and hemicellulolytic enzymes of Trichoderma reesei comprise one of the best characterised enzyme systems involved in lignocellulose degradation. In this paper, swollenin (SWOI), a protein recognised based on its sequence similarity with plant expansins, has been characterised.
