Therapeutic angiogenesis is the growth of blood vessels from a pre-existing vasculature for clinical applications such as treating myocardial and limb ischemia. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a potent signal transduction molecule that acts specifically on vascular endothelial cells.
