At least 24 species of cucurbits from 13 genera are known to be susceptible to gummy stem blight, caused by three species of Stagonosporopsis. Cankers that are formed on crowns and stems play an important role in the disease cycle and the survival of the pathogen. Fourteen cucurbit species of unknown susceptibility representing 12 genera, four taxonomic tribes, and four geographic origins were inoculated with Stagonosporopsis citrulli in Charleston, SC, in spring 2015, spring 2016, and fall…
The First recording of Gummy Stem Blight Disease Caused by Didymella bryoniae(Stagonosporopsis cucurbitacearum ) on Watermelon Crop in Iraq
TLDR
The strongly virulent isolate (I11) was determined after proving its high efficacy in re-infection and giving the same symptoms and was diagnosed in the beginning depending on the morphological characteristics, and was recorded as the causative agent of gummy stem blight disease on the watermelon crop in Iraq.
Stagonosporopsis pogostemonis: A Novel Ascomycete Fungus Causing Leaf Spot and Stem Blight on Pogostemon cablin (Lamiaceae) in South China
TLDR
The causal organism was identified as Stagonosporopsis pogostemonis, a novel fungal species, causing leaf spots and stem blight disease on Pogostemon cablin, the first report of leaf spot diseases on P. cablin caused by Stagonsporopsis species worldwide.
Identification of Sources of Multiple Disease Resistance in Advanced Breeding Lines of Bottle Gourd (Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standle)
TLDR
One of the most ancient crops cultivated by man in the tropics, bottle gourd is grown as a rainy season and as a summer season vegetable in India and is attaining fast popularity among the health-conscious urban elite due to its numerous medicinal properties.
Stagonosporopsis trachelii causes leaf spot on Ningpo Figwort (Scrophularia ningpoensis) in China
TLDR
Molecular analysis of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer regions, partial beta-tubulin and actin gene regions confirmed the identity of the fungus as S. trachelii, thereby confirming that the pathogen causes leaf spot on Ningpo Figwort in China and the world.
Valorization of Sicana odorifera (Vell.) Naudin Epicarp as a Source of Bioactive Compounds: Chemical Characterization and Evaluation of Its Bioactive Properties
TLDR
The results obtained in this study suggest that Sicana odorifera epicarp represents a reliable option for the development of novel natural-based colorants with functional/bioactive proprieties.
Detection and Quantification of Stagonosporopsis cucurbitacearum in Seeds of Cucurbita maxima Using Droplet Digital Polymerase Chain Reaction
TLDR
The ddPCR protocol provided rapid detection and absolute quantification of S. cucurbitacearum in squash seed samples, offering a useful support to the standard procedure.
