Patients with medically intractable trigeminal neuralgia characterized by paroxysmal, triggered, trigeminally distributed pain are excellent candidates for neurosurgical intervention, which can not only relieve the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, but also eliminate the unpleasant side effects of medicines used to treat it.
