Abstract The elementary excitations of quasi-one-dimensional charge density waves (CDW) which couple directly to the electric field are the phasons. Phasons give rise to phason-polaritons when coupled to the electromagnetic field. In finite geometry, surface phason-polaritons appear. We have calculated surface phason-polariton spectra for CDW films for P-polarization and CDW conducting axis inside the film. The f.i.r. surface phason-polariton states are confined to a finite band of longitudinal…

The dynamics of charge-density waves
In many materials with a highly anisotropic band structure, electron-phonon interactions lead to a novel type of ground state called the charge-density wave. The condensate is pinned to the
Theory of the weakly pinned fröhlich mode
Extending earlier work of Littlewood (1987) a theory for the collective mode (“Frohlich mode”) response of weakly pinned charge density waves (CDW) is given. Long range Coulomb interaction is
Thin‐film growth of the charge‐density‐wave oxide Rb0.30MoO3
We report on the thin‐film fabrication of a charge‐density wave (CDW) compound. Single‐phase epitaxial films of the model CDW oxide Rb0.30MoO3 have been grown by pulsed‐laser deposition. Detailed
