We determine the non-abelian Born-Infeld action, including fermions, as it results from the four-point tree-level open superstring scattering amplitudes at order 02 . Wend that, after anappropriateeld redenition allterms at this order canbewrittenasasymmetrised trace. Weconfront thisactionwiththeresultsthat follow from kappa-symmetry and conclude that the recently proposed non-abelian kappa-symmetry cannot be extended to cubic orders in the Born-Infeld curvature.

Non-abelian Born-Infeld revisited

We discuss the non-abelian Born-Infeld action, including fermions, as a series in α . We review recent work establishing the complete result to α 2 , and its impact on our earlier attempts to

Kappa-symmetric non-abelian Born-Infeld actions in three dimensions

A superembedding construction of general non-Abelian Born–Infeld actions in three dimensions is described. These actions have rigid target space and local worldvolume supersymmetry (i.e., kappa

Pure spinor superfields and Born-Infeld theory

A bstractWe present a method for introducing and analysing higher-derivative deformations of maximally supersymmetric field theories. Such terms are built in the pure spinor superfield framework,

Nonlinear/noncommutative non-Abelian monopoles

Using recently proposed non-linearly realized supersymmetry in non-Abelian gauge theory corrected to the order (alpha')^2, we derive the non-linear BPS equations in the background B-field for the

Born-Infeld gravity in any dimension

We develop a Born-Infeld type theory for gravity in any dimension. We show that in four dimensions our formalism allows a self-dual (or anti-self dual) Born-Infeld gravity description. Moreover, we

Supersymmetric Born-Infeld from the pure spinor formalism of the open superstring

Classical BRST invariance in the pure spinor formalism for the open superstring is shown to imply the supersymmetric Born-Infeld equations of motion for the background fields. These equations are

Non-Linear / Non-Commutative Non-Abelian Monopoles Koji Hashimoto

Using recently proposed non-linearly realized supersymmetry in non-Abelian gauge theory corrected to O(α′), we derive the non-linear BPS equations in the background B-field for the U(2) monopoles and

Non-Abelian Born-Infeld and kappa-symmetry

We define an iterative procedure to obtain a non-Abelian generalization of the Born–Infeld action. This construction is made possible by the use of the severe restrictions imposed by kappa-symmetry.
