We propose a novel string theory propagating in a non-commutative deformation of the four dimensional space T* T^2 whose scattering states correspond to superconformal theories in 5 dimensions and the scattering amplitudes compute superconformal indices of the corresponding 5d theories. The superconformal theories are obtained by M-theory compactifications on singular CY 3-folds or equivalently from a web of 5-branes of type IIB strings. The cubic interaction of this string theory for primitive…
Self-Dual Strings of Six-Dimensional SCFTs
In this thesis we aim to characterize the self-dual strings of six-dimensional superconformal field theories (SCFTs) and develop a variety of techniques to compute their elliptic genera, which
Superconformal partition functions and non-perturbative topological strings
A bstractWe propose a non-perturbative definition for refined topological strings. This can be used to compute the partition function of superconformal theories in 5 dimensions on squashed S5 and the
tt* geometry in 3 and 4 dimensions
A bstractWe consider the vacuum geometry of supersymmetric theories with 4 supercharges, on a flat toroidal geometry. The 2 dimensional vacuum geometry is known to be captured by the tt* geometry. In
Topological strings and 5d TN partition functions
A bstractWe evaluate the Nekrasov partition function of 5d gauge theories engineered by webs of 5-branes, using the refined topological vertex on the dual Calabi-Yau three-folds. The theories include
Wilson loops, instantons and quantum mechanics
In this thesis we will examine two different problems. The first is the computation of vacuum expectation values of Wilson loop operators in ABJM theory, the other problem is finding the instanton
Non-Lagrangian theories from brane junctions
A bstractIn this article we use 5-brane junctions to study the 5D TN SCFTs corresponding to the 5D $ \mathcal{N} $ = 1 uplift of the 4D $ \mathcal{N} $ = 2 strongly coupled gauge theories, which are
A slow review of the AGT correspondence
Starting with a gentle approach to the AGT correspondence from its 6d origin, these notes provide a wide survey of the literature on numerous extensions of the correspondence. This is the writeup of
Quantum geometry of del Pezzo surfaces in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit
A bstractWe use mirror symmetry, quantum geometry and modularity properties of elliptic curves to calculate the refined free energies in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit on non-compact toric Calabi-Yau
Black Holes, Branes, and Knots in String Theory

Topological Strings, D-Model, and Knot Contact Homology
We study the connection between topological strings and contact homology recently proposed in the context of knot invariants. In particular, we establish the proposed relation between the

M-theory and a topological string duality
We show how the topological string partition function, which is known to capture the degeneracies of a gas of BPS spinning M2-branes in M-theory compactified to 5 dimensions, is related to a
Mirror symmetry and exact solution of 4D $N = 2$ gauge theories: I
Using geometric engineering in the context of type II strings, we obtain exact solutions for the moduli space of the Coulomb branch of all N=2 gauge theories in four dimensions involving products of
String theory and noncommutative geometry
We extend earlier ideas about the appearance of noncommutative geometry in string theory with a nonzero B-field. We identify a limit in which the entire string dynamics is described by a minimally

Supersymmetric Gauge Theories, Intersecting Branes and Free Fermions
We show that various holomorphic quantities in supersymmetric gauge theories can be conveniently computed by configurations of D4-branes and D6-branes. These D-branes intersect along a Riemann
