We show that various holomorphic quantities in supersymmetric gauge theories can be conveniently computed by configurations of D4-branes and D6-branes. These D-branes intersect along a Riemann surface that is described by a holomorphic curve in a complex surface. The resulting I-brane carries two-dimensional chiral fermions on its world-volume. This system can be mapped directly to the topological string on a large class of non-compact Calabi-Yau manifolds. Inclusion of the string coupling… Expand

Charged chiral fermions from M5-branes
A bstractWe study M5-branes wrapped on a multi-centred Taub-NUT space. Reducing to String Theory on the S1 fibration leads to D4-branes intersecting with D6-branes. D-braneology shows that there areExpand
N=2 gauge theories, instanton moduli spaces and geometric representation theory
Abstract We survey some of the AGT relations between N = 2 gauge theories in four dimensions and geometric representations of symmetry algebras of two-dimensional conformal field theory on theExpand
Quantum Curves and D-Modules
In this article we continue our study of chiral fermions on a quantum curve. This system is embedded in string theory as an I-brane configuration, which consists of D4 and D6-branes intersectingExpand
Supersymmetric Partition Functions and a String Theory in 4 Dimensions
We propose a novel string theory propagating in a non-commutative deformation of the four dimensional space T* T^2 whose scattering states correspond to superconformal theories in 5 dimensions andExpand
Superspin chains from superstring theory
We present a correspondence between two-dimensional N = (2, 2) supersymmetric gauge theories and rational integrable gl(m|n) spin chains with spin variables taking values in Verma modules. To explainExpand
Non-perturbative topological strings and conformal blocks
We give a non-perturbative completion of a class of closed topological string theories in terms of building blocks of dual open strings. In the specific case where the open string is given by aExpand

Topological Strings and Quantum Curves
This thesis presents several new insights on the interface between mathematics and theoretical physics, with a central role for Riemann surfaces. First of all, the duality between Vafa-Witten theoryExpand
Note on intersecting branes in topological strings
The intersection of branes is an important object in string theory, in order to study non-perturbative aspects of branes, and also its applicatioins to quantum field theory. In this report weExpand
2 Omega-deformation of Seiberg – Witten theory as a five-brane web in type IIB
We present a string theory construction of Omega-deformed four-dimensional gauge theories with generic values of e1 and e2. Our solution gives an explicit description of the geometry in the core ofExpand

M-theory and a topological string duality

Localized modes at a D-brane—O-plane intersection and heterotic Alice strings
