We study the instability of small AdS black holes with two independent rotation parameters in minimal five-dimensional gauged supergravity to massless scalar perturbations. We analytically solve the Klein-Gordon equation for low-frequency perturbations in two regions of the spacetime of these black holes: namely, in the region close to the horizon and in the far-region. By matching the solutions in an intermediate region, we calculate the frequency spectrum of quasinormal modes. We show that in…

Superradiance and instability of small rotating charged AdS black holes in all dimensions

Rotating small AdS black holes exhibit the superradiant instability to low-frequency scalar perturbations, which is amenable to a complete analytic description in four dimensions. In this paper, we

Superradiance Instability of Small Rotating AdS Black Holes in Arbitrary Dimensions

We investigate the stability of $D$ dimensional singly rotating Myers-Perry-AdS black holes under superradiance against scalar field perturbations. It is well known that small four dimensional

Superradiance and black hole bomb in five-dimensional minimal ungauged supergravity

We examine the black hole bomb model which consists of a rotating black hole of five-dimenensional minimal ungauged supergravity and a reflecting mirror around it. For low-frequency scalar

Stability of rapidly rotating charged black holes in AdS5 × S5

We study the stability of charged rotating black holes in a consistent truncation of type IIB supergravity on AdS5 × S5 that degenerate to extremal black holes with zero entropy. These black holes

Superradiant instability of near extremal and extremal four-dimensional charged hairy black holes in anti-de Sitter spacetime

We study the instability of near extremal and extremal four-dimensional AdS charged hairy black hole to radial neutral massive and charged massless scalar field perturbations. We solve the scalar

Degenerate rotating black holes, chiral CFTs and Fermi surfaces I — Analytic results for quasinormal modes

A bstractIn this work we discuss charged rotating black holes in AdS5 × S5 that degenerate to extremal black holes with zero entropy. These black holes have scaling properties between charge and

Quasinormal modes of black holes: From astrophysics to string theory

Perturbations of black holes, initially considered in the context of possible observations of astrophysical effects, have been studied for the past ten years in string theory, brane-world models and

Analytical study of superradiant instability of the five-dimensional Kerr–Gödel black hole

We present an analytical study of the superradiant instability of the rotating asymptotically Gödel black hole (Kerr–Gödel black hole) in five-dimensional minimal supergravity theory. By employing

Superradiant Instability of D-Dimensional Reissner-Nordström Black Hole Mirror System

We analytically study the superradiant instability of charged massless scalar field in the background of D-dimensional Reissner–Nordstr¨om(RN) black hole caused by mirror-like boundary condition. By

Conformal Invariance and Near-Extreme Rotating AdS Black Holes

We obtain retarded Green's functions for massless scalar fields in the background of near-extreme, near-horizon rotating charged black holes of five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. The

Quasinormal frequencies of Schwarzschild black holes in anti–de Sitter spacetimes: A complete study of the overtone asymptotic behavior

General nonextremal rotating black holes in minimal five-dimensional gauged supergravity.

The general solution for nonextremal charged rotating black holes in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity is constructed, and it is shown how supersymmetric solutions arise in a Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield limit.

Classical instability of Kerr-AdS black holes and the issue of final state

It is now established that small Kerr\char21{}anti-de Sitter (Kerr-AdS) black holes are unstable against scalar perturbations, via the superradiant amplification mechanism. We show that small

Superradiance and Instability of Black Holes

The stability of black holes has a crucial importance when we study their formation and fate in Nature. It also has an intimate relation with the cosmic censorship hypothesis. For these reasons, this

A Master Equation for Gravitational Perturbations of Maximally Symmetric Black Holes in Higher Dimensions

We show that in four or more spacetime dimensions, the Einstein equations for gravitational perturbations of maximally symmetric vacuum black holes can be reduced to a single second-order wave

Universal low-energy dynamics for rotating black holes

Fundamental string theory has been used to show that low-energy excitations of certain black holes are described by a two-dimensional conformal field theory. This picture has been found to be

Rotating spacetimes with asymptotic nonflat structure and the gyromagnetic ratio

In general relativity, the gyromagnetic ratio for all stationary, axisymmetric, and asymptotically flat Einstein-Maxwell fields is known to be g=2. In this paper, we continue our previous works of
