  • The activities of the key antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase and catalase, were studied in the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen, and skeletal muscle of 8 mammalian species. In all studied animals the regularities of distribution of the enzymes were found to be, as a rule, the same like in other mammals: a high activity in the liver and a lower activity, in other organs.
