The crystalline structure, spherulitic crystallization and melting behaviour of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) is comprehensively reviewed, illustrated and discussed. It is demonstrated and summarized how the nucleation, development and growth of the different spherulites depend on the crystallization and melting conditions both in quiescent and sheared melt. Based on the results the microtexture development during real processing conditions is elucidated for selected examples. Several subjects…
Spherulitic Morphology of Isotactic Polypropylene and its Melting Behavior
Abstract The crystallization and lamellar morphology of isotactic polypropylene (ipp) have been investigated by thermal analysis and electron microscopy. When ipp samples are crystallized above
Crystallization of Polypropylene
Various aspects of polypropylene (PP) crystallization are discussed. The methods of studying the crystallization process and formed crystalline structure are presented. The polymorphism of crystals
Recent results on the polymorphic behavior of isotactic polypropylene
The more recent results concerning the polymorphic behavior of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) are presented. Specifically contributions on the recently determined γ phase crystal structure, in which
Melting behavior in blends of isotactic polypropylene and a liquid crystalline polymer
The influence of low contents of a liquid crystalline polymer on the crystallization and melting behavior of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) was investigated using electron and optical microscopy,
Highly efficient nucleating additive for isotactic polypropylene studied by differential scanning calorimetry
The influence of an organic phosphate derivative in the crystallization of the monoclinic phase of isotactic polypropylene was studied by differential scanning calorimetry. To analyze the nucleation
Analysis of the Dynamic Crystallisation of Isotactic Polypropylene/α-Nucleating Agent Systems by DSC
The nucleation efficiency of dibenzylidene sorbitol, methyldibenzylidene sorbitol and 1,2,3,4-bis- (3,4-dimethylbenzylidene) sorbitol in the crystallisation of the monoclinic phase of isotactic

Polymorphism in isotactic polypropylene
Abstract The conditions under which a given form of any of the three distinct polymorphic crystalline phases of isotactic polypropylene can be obtained have been investigated. The relationship
Studies on the monoclinic and hexagonal modifications of isotactic polypropylene
Pure isotactic polypropylene, which is isothermally crystallized from the melt in the temperature range between 0°C and 140°C, displays only the monoclinic α-modification whereas samples which
Structure and properties of isotactic polypropylene
ABSTRACT The crystal structure of isotactic polypropylene and its chemical-physical properties are described here. The polymer crystallizes in the Cc space group with the following constants of the
Spherulitic Crystallization in Polypropylene
A survey has been made of spherulites formed by the isothermal crystallization of polypropylene from the melt in the temperature range 110°–148°C. Four types of spherulite have been distinguished and
Morphology of polypropylene crystals. II. Twinning of lamellar crystals
Twinned crystals were obtained from fractionated isotactic polypropylene of Mw = 600,000 by isothermal crystallization at 130°C. for 20 hr. from dilute α-chloronaphthalene solution (0.005 wt.-%).
Low and high-yield isotactic polypropylene
The crystallization and melting behaviour of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) samples synthetized with different catalyst systems (low and high-yield) have been studied by differential scanning
